Today I have another simple DIY project for you. I’m going to show you how to make cute little party place cards in the shape of an army cap. If you can fold paper, you can make these. That’s how easy it is. It’s a great kid’s craft. They’re the perfect addition to your party table.
This is what they look like. (Told you they’re cute!)
Even though there are 7 steps, they are all simple steps. Here’s how you make them.
Party Cap Place Cards Tutorial
Step 1: Take an 8-1/2″ by 11″ sheet of decorative craft paper and cut it down to a perfect square measuring 8-1/2″ by 8-1/2″. Fold it in half. Then fold both sides into the center.
Step 2: Pull apart and flatten the right side to make a triangular shape at the top. Do the same thing on the left side.
Step 3: Fold the right side piece (single layer) back and underneath at the fold line.
Step 4: (Actually this probably could have been called 3B.) Now fold the left side piece (single layer) back and underneath at the fold line.
Step 5: Fold the uppermost bottom flap up so that the edge meets the bottom of the triangles.
Step 6: Fold this flap up again so that it folds halfway over the triangles.
Step 7: (Again, more like 6B.) Fold the other side the same way.
Before you open it, write a guest’s name on it. Then gently pull the front and back to open it up and shape it. Voila! You have a nifty little party place card.
You can decorate these place cards with ribbons, glitter, flowers or whatever you want. Change the paper to go with the occasion or to match other party decorations. Just have fun with it!
