Decorating with blue is a very popular choice in home interiors. Even though it’s recognized as a masculine color, both men and women seem to like this color the most. According to a study done by Dulux Paints, 42% of men and 30% of women chose blue as their favorite color. The walls in my husband’s den are painted a deep blue. It was a color we could both agree on. The room isn’t large, so the darker color helps the walls to recede making it feel more spacious. It’s a very easy room to get comfortable in.
Blue cannot be made from mixing any other colors, because it’s one of the primary colors. Primary colors are the source of all other colors. We’re used to having blue all around us in the sky and ocean. It is considered to be mentally and physically beneficial in that it slows down the metabolism and produces a calming effect. Where red is supposed to stimulate the appetite, blue has the opposite effect. For many blue symbolizes faith, truth and heaven. It is a color that’s associated with trust, loyalty, stability, wisdom and confidence. That’s probably why so many people decorate their homes with it.
