It’s time for cheap decorating ideas with Thursday’s Thrifty Three! You know what I say. Cheap isn’t an insult; it’s an adjective. It means costing very little, relatively low in price, inexpensive. When it comes to decorating, I’m all about fabulous and affordable. It’s absolutely possible to create a home you love while staying on your budget. All it takes is a little creativity. Sometimes it may also require a bit of elbow-grease. Though I can’t help you with the elbow-grease, I can help by finding some great thrifty decorating ideas. That’s why I’ve started Thrifty Thursday. I’ll look for clever and creative decorating projects that won’t break the bank. Then I’ll share my three favorites for the week here with you. Today’s picks include two ways to spruce up your foyer and the other is for your bedroom. Enjoy!
Cheap Decorating Ideas
1. Love this idea from Martha Stewart. Create a drop-spot in the foyer that is functional and attractive. Each family member gets their own basket and 3 Shaker-style pegs. Two sizes of wooden brackets support the long shelves. The top set, turned upside down, forms cubicles for the baskets; the larger bottom set frames four poplar boards fitted with the pegs. You’ll find a great tutorial for this project here.
2. Bring unique style to your foyer and have it stand out by painting horizontal stripes on the walls. This foyer is a small space and would require about two quarts of paint. That’s very little money for a lot of impact.
3. Recreate the look of an expensive canopy bed using ordinary curtain rods or household plumbing supplies. Attach them to the ceiling, then hang flowing drapery panels to the floor. The look is elegant, but the price is budget-friendly.
Do you think you’ll try one of these ideas? Do you have any that you’d like to share?
