Powder baths, also known as half baths as they only have a lavatory and a sink, can be some of the most fun spaces in the whole house to decorate. They’re small, which makes it a relatively inexpensive project to do, and you can go bold without it being overwhelming. For example, if you have accents of turquoise in your home, why not paint the walls in your powder bath turquoise or go with a wallpaper in that color?
They are even a great excuse to deviate from the rest of your home’s decor and do something totally unexpected. Feel free to to play around with colors and patterns, especially wallpaper, that you may have felt weren’t right for other rooms in your home. Of course, you can always go with something classic and that can produce some lovely results, too.
Here are 10 powder baths I found inspiring, from the simple to the bold.
1 If you want something simple but elegant, stripes are a great way to go in a powder bath. They give the eye something interesting to take in without being overwhelming.
2 Is there a wallpaper you’ve been dying to use but can’t find the right spot for it? Perhaps the powder bath is the canvas you’ve been looking for.
3 If you have a pedestal sink, storage can be added through small end tables and magazine holders as seen in this vintage-inspired powder bath.
4 I love how the leaf design on this wallpaper leads your eye up and gives the space some movement.
5 The wooded wallpaper reminds me of the set design on ABC’s “Once Upon A Time.” This bathroom is wonderfully serene.
6 Monochromatic design is easy to achieve in a powder bath. I love the black and white stripes and that beautiful mirror on the wall.
7So feminine and sophisticated! All the reflective, vintage touches and that soft purple make this bathroom fit for a queen.
8 Painting the ceiling in black was a great touch. That wallpaper is adorable.
9 All black, satin walls give this bathroom a masculine glamour. The pops of orange and turquoise pop brilliantly against the darkness.
10In such a small space, it is a great look to tile the walls as seen here. Subway tile is a classic and timeless way to go.
Powder baths are a great opportunity to play with design. Have you done something fun with your powder bath?
