Daybeds: 10 Delightful and Dreamy Decorating Ideas

Daybeds are one of the most versatile and functional pieces of furniture you can own. They serve as both extra seating and a spare bed when needed. If you don’t have room for a dedicated guest room but want to have something more comfortable than a sofa to offer guests, then a daybed could be the perfect solution for you. They fit easily into an office or living room and many even come with extra storage space underneath. There are so many beautiful styles to choose from, this post could easily contain hundreds of pictures, but I’ve narrowed it down to 10 of my favorites.

Daybeds

1 This daybed is the perfect look for a sophisticated home office/guest bedroom. Nestled in the bookcase, it offers both additional seating and a spare bed for guests with extra storage underneath.

2 I love this daybed because it looks like an adorable couch at first glance. The detail on the top of the piece masks the fact that this is actually daybed and the back is padded, making it a perfectly chic choice for a daybed.

3 If you want something unique and functional, this daybed made of palettes on wheels could be exactly what you’re looking for. It is easy to move around for different conversation areas as needed and versatile, as you can change out the mattress and pillows as you see fit.

4 Nothing could be more elegant than this gorgeous tufted daybed from Neiman Marcus. While it is rather pricey, a girl can dream. Can you imagine how soft the fabric must be?

5 The airy back on this daybed is perfect for a room full of windows, especially a sunroom, to let even more light in. The rolled pillows on either end are a great way to add the comfort of arm rests to a daybed for sitting while being easy to remove at night.

6 What’s better than one daybed? Two! By placing two daybeds like these fabulous ones from Pottery Barn adjacent to each other in the corner of a room, you have enough space for two guests not to mention plenty of seating and storage.

9 How’s that for a view? Daybeds without backs are perfect in front of a window that has a view you don’t want to block and any guests that get to use it will appreciate the prime spot.

Did I mention that daybeds are also the perfect spot for a shameless nap? They are more comfortable than a couch, but you can feel less guilty than if you were crawling into your own bed for a midday snooze. Which one of these would you love to have in your home?

Hi Sam! That photo didn’t provide a source list, but I do know that Pottery Barn sells the mattress shown in their photo. To get the color, you may want to see about having one custom made. 🙂

Hi, can you tell me where to find “The Decorista” now? I need a daybed with an upholstered back that looks more like a couch than a bed!

    Thanks you!

I’ve tried the daybed thing and it didn’t work for us. They are too deep to sit on for us, especially for me as I am short. I think they are so cute but I prefer something that my legs can bend rather sticking out like a Barbie dolls legs. Even with the use of pillows they are still much too deep.

With design, it’s fun to experiment Cathy. When something doesn’t work, you move on as you did with the daybed. I applaud you for trying something new. 🙂
