One of my favorite rooms in the house isn’t actually inside the house at all. Living in Florida, I love to spend as much time outdoors as I can. Though it does get pretty hot in the summer months, some well-placed fans and plenty of shade help solve that dilemma so we can still enjoy the fresh air. Decorating outdoor spaces has some minor differences from interior decorating, but overall the same design concepts apply. It is all about comfort, style, and functionality. Here are some tips and ideas for accessorizing patios and porches that can hopefully inspire you for your own space.
Accessorizing Outdoor Spaces

This outdoor space could be picked up and put right inside to serve as an elegant living room. Striped ottomans and matching pillows add a touch of class, while lamps and candles not only make the space look more like a room, but also offer cozy lighting.

A rustic wood table compliments the contemporary furniture and the chandelier adds a lot of character. Pillows, fresh flowers, and a throw are simple accessorizing that make the space feel more welcoming.
This patio has a festive spirit with lanterns hanging from the tree and plenty of pillows to bring color, style, and comfort to the seating. A blue glass vase and some potted flowers complete the space.

Who said mirrors were only for interiors? This one brings a lot of style to this space, playing well off of the gold chandelier. The pillars are a nice touch to define the wall and add an extra architectural element.
An old shutter makes a great piece of wall art on this porch. The lovely vignette in front of it adds some extra style and character, truly making this space feel like a room.

When you have a bold look like stripes on the ceiling and walls, it is best to stay simple in the accessorizing. Some stunning lighting and a few small accessories on the coffee table are enough to finish it off.
An area rug helps not only to define a conversation area on a patio, but also adds an extra layer of warmth and style that will make it feel more comfortable.
To add a punch of color and some help with shade, hang some curtains in a fun pattern. To liven up any table, include some fresh flowers in a beautiful pot or vase for great style every time.
Choose a color palette that will inspire you. This black and white space is punctuated with pops of red that could easily be changed out from season to season.
