DIY Outdoor Projects to Celebrate Summer

Summer may be just around the corner on the calendar, but here in Florida it’s been in full force for some time now. And summer decorating has been on my mind since my first dip in the pool. We spend a lot of hours entertaining, relaxing, and just having fun on our porch. Since it’s a space we really enjoy, I want it to be as comfortable and stylish as possible. With that in mind, I thought it would be fun to share a few creative DIY outdoor projects that will help you get your outdoor spaces ready to celebrate summer. I found five fabulous projects to feature today, from some of my favorite DIY bloggers. You can follow the links below each photo to find the easy step-by-step tutorials.

1 This Upcycled Vintage Door Beverage Bar Station is not only full of rustic charm, but it’s also completely functional. It has everything you need for entertaining including an antique bottle opener and a place for ice. On top of that, it would bring a touch of character to any porch or patio.

2 A few things you can never have too much of in an outdoor space are spots to set your food and drinks, seating, and storage. This Outdoor Storage Box and Bench fulfills all those needs. Here it’s used as a side table, but add a cushion or two and you have a comfortable spot for guests to sit. For storage, it’s a stylish way to tuck away all those outdoor items.

3 There are a plethora of herb gardens out there, but I haven’t found any quite as quaint as this one. It’s amazing what you can do with an old door, a few galvanized buckets and some thrift store china. Check out the tutorial for this delightful Kitchen Herb Garden; you’ll find a few surprise there.

4 It always amazes me how wrapping rope around a plain object can transform it into something special. Rope turned these terra cotta pots from ordinary to eye-catching. Adding painted bands takes it up a notch. Don’t you just love DIY projects that are so simple, but have such impact?

5 When I found this dog bed, I just knew I had to share it. As amazing as the bed is, what really did it for me was the pink umbrella. And did you see the chandelier? I love anything that helps me spoil the four-legged members of our family. Another great thing about this bed is that without the umbrella, you can use it indoors. I think dogs and cats would both love this bed.

I’m with you on the umbrella Peggy! So cute and colorful.

We had am awesome dog bed for our Bichon. Did she EVER use it?! Nope. But I kept it loooong after she passed away because it was so pretty. It easily could have been put on your vanity (providing you had a big one) for toiletries or on your bar for glasses, booze, etc. We finally parted with it in March when we had our moving sale. I would have loved to keep it but it was a fancy smancy design and just wouldn’t have worked at the cabin.

Now that first pic…THAT would work!

The vintage door beverage station would be perfect for your cabin, Doreen. Do you think you might add it to your to do list after the wedding? 😉

You’re welcome! The beverage bar is very popular. I may even have to give it a go myself! 🙂
