Beach Themed Bedrooms with Coastal Style

A bedroom and the essence of the beach go well together. Most people when designing their bedroom describe the space they want as being a relaxing retreat, a place for them to unwind after a long day. Beaches are practically synonymous with the idea of a retreat. The sights, sounds and textures of a beach are known for their calming qualities, making them the perfect inspiration for a relaxing bedroom. Beach themed bedrooms don’t have to take their inspiration too literal. In fact, some of the best coastal design is very subtle and focuses more on capturing the essence of the coast rather than just filling a space with seashells and rope. Here are 10 beach themed bedrooms that perfectly capture elegant coastal style.

Beach Themed Bedrooms

1 The deep blue wallpaper with a subtle sheen mimics the beauty of the water, while neutral elements bring warmth to the space. Crisp white bedding pops beautifully against the darker tones.

2 A beautiful beach shot of a furry family member sets the entire tone for this bedroom. The woven headboard is a subtle ode to the beach, while the soft blues and greens bring a sense of serenity.

3 Light wood adds a nice texture to this bedroom that reminds one of the coast. Decorating the ledge behind the bed in a relaxed style has the same flair as a laid back day at the beach.

4 A wall installation with an ocean motif in vibrant coral is eye-catching and sets the tone for this bedroom. A soft blue on the walls offsets that bold color to create a more relaxing atmosphere.

5 With a view like that, simple is better. Like an art gallery, the white is the perfect backdrop to showcase a colorful view. The Adirondack chair is a nice touch, showing an easy way to bring the outdoors in in a fun and stylish way.

9 This unique nook reminds me of a ship’s cabin with the rich wood and interesting shapes. The sculpture hanging between the windows also looks like the figurehead often found at the front of a ship.

10 Reclaimed wood makes for a headboard full of charm and character. The metallic end table is a nice juxtaposition against the rustic wood, while the orange and coral accents are just enough color to liven up the space.

lovely article, love the pictures, I have saved a couple. I live in a cape cod and have engineered wooden floors in my bedroom (previous people) and would love to paint them white, difficult getting the OH to agree, I think it would be the making of the room 🙂

Thank you, Michael; glad you enjoyed the article. Unless I have a piece of artwork that I’m using for inspiration; I select my main furniture pieces first and go from there. 🙂
