Next month starts the countdown to the holidays. Now is the time to start getting your kitchen organized and ready for all the activity it will see. From the pantry to the refrigerator, having things organized will help make meal planning and preparing go much smoother. To help you get things started, I have some simple kitchen organization tips to share with you.
Kitchen Organization Tips
These 10 tips are easy to implement and will go a long way toward creating a more efficient kitchen.
1 Use certain shelves to hold specific items. Label the shelves so it makes it easier for other members of the household to put away groceries.
2 After opening bags of chips, cookies, crackers and such, store them in clear plastic containers so they’ll stay fresh longer. You’ll also be able to see when you are running low on family favorites, so you can add them to your shopping list.
3 Hang wire racks inside cabinet or closet doors for additional storage space.
4 Group spices by category so that you spend less time looking for them when you’re cooking or baking.
5 Store leftovers in plastic freezer bags. They’ll take up less space in the freezer and you won’t have to worry about storing all those plastic containers when they’re not being used.
6 Leave out on the counters only those items that you use everyday. This will keep the counters from looking cluttered and make the kitchen look neater.
7 Keep utensils and tools you use on a regular basis in place that is easily accessible.
8 Turntables or lazy-susans aren’t just for cabinets. Use them in your refrigerator, too.
9 Keep a recycling bin or basket close to the trash to encourage recycling.
10 Use baskets that slide easily to provide convenient access to cans, dry food, pots and other items.
