For me, candy canes are to Christmas what candy corn is to Halloween. When I was a little girl we used to decorate the Christmas tree with the small candy canes… along with copious amounts of silver tinsel. We don’t hang them on the tree any more (the canes or the tinsel), but these sugary treats still seem like the quintessential holiday candy. Not only are they delicious to eat, they’re also great for making crafts. Here are seven fun ways you can use this holiday treat to spice up your desserts or decorate your home this year. Just follow the links below each photo to find out more.
Crafting with Candy Canes
1 These delicious little snowball treats are made from Rice Krispies. They look so festive hanging from the rim of a delicious cup of hot cocoa.
2 My daughter’s boyfriend was given one of these candy sleds at work and I thought it was such a clever idea. They’re so easy to make. And who wouldn’t love a candy sled?
3 I tried to make cake pops for a baby shower once, but instead of looking like cute little baby faces they looked more like aliens. I ended up bringing cupcakes instead. If only I had know about these heart pops. They’re super simple to make and the presentation is delightful.
4 How much fun are these adorable reindeer? All it takes is some yarn and our favorite craft tool – the glue gun.
5 You can use these chalkboard tags as place cards for the holiday table or to identify the dishes on the buffet table.
6 A plain white pillar candle gets a festive treatment with the addition of green and white candy canes.
7 Greet your guests with a whimsical candy cane wreath. Make whatever size wreath you want by choosing smaller or larger candy canes.
